Entering its final game of the regular season, St. Ignatius faces stiff competition for its western Cleveland rivals, St. Edward. In the matchup that has become known as the “Holy War,” St. Ignatius finds itself in an unfamiliar situation: a loss and the Wildcats risk not making the playoffs for the first time since 1988.
After an underwhelming season, St. Ignatius goes up against Ohio’s best team, St. Edward. The Eagles have built up an 8-1 record, with their only loss coming in a close game against a talented St. Joseph Regional squad. St. Edward currently sits at 21st in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings.
Being left off of the national rankings this year, St. Ignatius has struggled to a 5-3 record, failing to edge out opponents in close games. Still, the Wildcats are a talented team. St. Ignatius has a 28-23-1 advantage in the series and has gone an even 3-3 in its last six encounters with the Eagles.
The two Ohio teams face off at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 31.
